What makes our knot halters special

Our knot halters have a different fit than most knot halters, because most of them have the gaiter straps running over or on the gaiters, which we don't like. Our knot halters have a ring instead of the typical diamond knot. We decided to do this because by pulling on the side, the halter with the diamond knot shifts and e.g. is pulled into the eyes. With the ring this no longer happens as only the ring moves to the side and not the whole knot halter. So the knots stay where they should be and the tension/compression is much more precise.

That's not right for us
If the gaiter pieces run ABOVE or ON the gaiter, there is an imbalance of incoming signals at the horse's head. By pulling downwards, the neck is pulled forwards and downwards so that the neck piece lies directly behind or on the sensitive part of the ears and the tension can quickly cause pain there. Additionally the ganache pieces press against both cheeks. The nose piece then lies too far down on the soft and sensitive part of the horse's nose, especially when it is pulled forward, and can therefore also cause pain there.
And that's how it fits
The jaw pieces really have to run ON the jaws or BEHIND the cheeks, so that the headpiece doesn't press forward against the ears. This means that the headpiece sits a little further back from the ears. It will not slip forward again, even when pulled forward, since the signal is primarily passed on from the jaw pieces to the "back" of the jaws. This means that the nose piece does not lie too low on the horse's nose. It should be about two finger widths below the cheekbone. The knot halter is not too wide under the nose so the horse could step in/get stuck when taking the head off; but still wide enough for the horse to chew normally. The knot halter should generally sit loosely on the horse's head so that the horse only notices it slightly without external influence.

When designing your knot halter you can choose riding rings if you want to ride with your knot halter. You can also do normal groundwork with riding rings.
